Led by the University of Vienna, the Cluster of Excellence “Microbiomes Drive Planetary Health” unites microbiome researchers at eight leading research institutions, including the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT), the Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (CeMM), the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA), Johannes Kepler University Linz, Medical University of Graz, Medical University of Vienna, and Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien). This program is funded by the FWF excellence initiative excellent=austria of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research.

The first 5-year period of funding for “Microbiomes Drive Planetary Health” began in October 2023.
