Austrian Microbiome Research Awards 2025 to three Early Career Researchers

The inaugural Austrian Microbiome Research Awards were awarded for Best MSc thesis, Best PhD thesis, and Best Paper.

Cornelia Rottensteiner, Charlotte Neumann, and Daniela Wöber received the Austrian Microbiome Research Awards for their contributions to microbiome research in Austria.

We’re proud to announce the selection for the inaugural Austrian Microbiome Research Awards, recognizing outstanding microbiome research in Austria.

The Best MSc Thesis Award goes to Cornelia Rottensteiner (Centre for Microbiology and Environmental Systems Science at the University of Vienna). Cornelia’s thesis on microbial activity in permafrost soils stood out for its professional presentation, clear aims, and strong research engagement.

The Best PhD Thesis Award is awarded to Charlotte Neumann (Medical University of Graz). Charlotte’s innovative thesis on the woman-microbiome-child interplay effectively bridged clinical and fundamental microbiome science, demonstrating both scientific and societal impact.

Join us in congratulating these Early Career Researchers for their excellent contributions to microbiome research!

Today, June 27th, also marks World Microbiome Day, a global initiative dedicated to understanding and appreciating microbiomes. Happy World Microbiome Day!
