Career development is especially important for Postdocs due to the unique challenges and opportunities they face. Postdocs are at a critical juncture, often needing to decide whether to pursue a highly competitive academic career or transition into industry.
In this workshop, led by the highly experienced Sarah Blackford, the CoE Postdocs focused on potential jobs of interest, how to make informed career choices, self-analysis of skills, interests, and strengths, and how to present yourself to employers in person and online. Participants learned how to write an effective CV and cover letter, adapting them for different roles to highlight relevant skills and experiences. The Postdocs were introduced to successful interview techniques, including an opportunity to practice and receive personalized feedback.
This workshop, run during the International Postdoc Appreciation Week, was designed to equip Postdocs with the knowledge and confidence to navigate diverse career paths, whether within or outside of academia.
