CoE Key Researchers share their knowledge in free online course

The course “Environmental Emergencies: Navigating Climate Change, Biodiversity Loss, and Environmental Pollution” starts on October 1, 2025.

Across the globe, we are experiencing profound environmental changes that are impacting ecosystems, our daily lives, and future generations. To address these challenges, we need a deep understanding of both their causes and consequences.

This interdisciplinary course will teach fundamental concepts, interrelationships, and approaches to addressing the three major environmental crises: climate change, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution.

Organized by CoE Key Researcher Thilo Hofmann, this course brings together leading experts from various departments of the University of Vienna, among them CoE Director of Research Michael Wagner, CoE Key Researchers Christina Kaiser, Stephan Krämer, Jillian Petersen, Petra Pjevac, Andreas Richter, and CoE Postdoc Lucia Fuchslueger, to explore the interconnected nature of these emergencies through multiple angles and across disciplines.

The free, English-language online course (Massive Open Online Course, MOOC) is available worldwide on the iMooX.at platform and is aimed at both students and the interested public.
