CoE Microplanet celebrates International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2026

Today, on International Day of Women and Girls in Science, we want to inspire how science can become more equitable.

According to UNESCO, women currently make up less than one-third of the world’s researchers. This gender gap isn’t just a matter of fairness; it’s a bottleneck for innovation. By limiting who can participate in science, we’re limiting the quality, relevance, and impact of scientific progress itself.

In the CoE Microplanet, women play a vital role in shaping the future of microbiome research. With half of our researchers identifying as women, we recognize the importance of diversity in driving innovation and discovery.

This year, for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, join us in acknowledging the talent and dedication of our female scientists, whose work advances scientific knowledge and contributes to a more inclusive academic community.
