We are delighted to congratulate Andreas Richter (CeMESS, Universität Wien) and the ActiveSOIL team on receiving a prestigious €10 million grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation.
Led by CoE Key Researcher Andreas Richter, ActiveSOIL is an ambitious international research initiative advancing our understanding of soil health by exploring how microbial activity drives essential ecosystem processes.
The project brings together international partners including Caitlin Singleton (Aalborg University), Jennifer Pett-Ridge (Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory) and Michael Obersteiner (University of Oxford).
This recognition highlights the critical role of microbiome research in addressing global challenges – from climate change and sustainable land use to the future of our planet’s ecosystems.
